About Jahmil

Writer & Director

Jahmil Eady is a writer-director drawn to stories about the search for home and outsiders who journey from isolation to connection. With roots in NYC and Charleston, SC, she blends elevated genre storytelling with emotional depth.

Jahmil began her career in unscripted film and television as an Associate Producer on documentary projects for Oprah Winfrey Network, Viceland, and Discovery Networks. She holds a BA in Media Studies from Pomona College and studied film in Prague, Czech Republic. Jahmil holds an MFA in Directing from UCLA, where she was the Inaugural Graduate Class Artist, representing over 14,000 Bruins. She is also the Princess Grace Foundation's Inaugural Sir Roger Moore Honoree in Filmmaking.

Jahmil is an alum of the Tribeca Chanel Through Her Lens Workshop, American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women Plus (AFI DWW+), and Indeed and Hillman Grad’s Rising Voices Season 5. Her work has also been supported by Rideback Rise, SeriesFest, Film Independent, Bend Basecamp, Peace Is Loud, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles’ NewNarratives Program, among others. Her other distinctions include the New York Times Award, the Jackie Robinson Foundation Award, and the Four Sisters Award bestowed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Sara Finney-Johnson, Felicia D. Henderson, and Mara Brock Akil. 

Jahmil’s magical realism short film, Hatchlings is available on the American Airlines Inflight Entertainment platform. Her southern folk horror short, HAINT, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2025 and is streaming on Hulu. HAINT played in theaters across the US before The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Weapons, Highest 2 Lowest, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Caught Stealing.

She is currently developing HAINT as her debut feature.
