Writer & Director
Jahmil Eady is an award-winning writer and director from NYC and Charleston, SC. Her genre-defying work often explores themes like home, the exploration of connection, and how humans create a sense of belonging within their environments, communities, and themselves.
Jahmil holds BA in Media Studies from Pomona College and studied film in Prague, Czech Republic. Jahmil holds an MFA in Directing from UCLA, where she was the Inaugural Graduate Class Artist, representing over 14,000 Bruins for the class of 2023. She is also the Princess Grace Foundation's Inaugural Sir Roger Moore Honoree in Filmmaking.
Jahmil began her career in unscripted film and television and was an Associate Producer on documentary projects for Oprah Winfrey Network, Viceland, and Discovery Networks. Her short films have screened around the world, including at several BAFTA and Academy Award-Qualifying film festivals.
Jahmil was a director in the 2024 Tribeca Chanel Through Her Lens Workshop, a director in the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women Plus (AFI DWW+) class of 2025 and a director in Indeed and Hillman Grad’s Rising Voices Season 5. Her work has also been supported by Film Independent, Plate Spinner Productions, Peace Is Loud, rePROFilm, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles’ NewNarratives Program and the Rhulen Family Foundation among others. Her other distinctions include the New York Times Award, The Jackie Robinson Foundation Award, and the Four Sisters Award bestowed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Sara Finney-Johnson, Felicia D. Henderson, and Mara Brock Akil.
